The approach to closing fees is also fairly straight-forward in Michigan, where transfer taxes are uniform statewide. Recording fees are also uniform statewide with the sole exception of Wayne County, the seat of which is Detroit. There, you may find a unique recording fee in comparison to the rest of the state.

Michigan also assesses a tax certification fee. This is a surcharge attached to the deed recordation fee and it is applicable in every county in the state.
